Understand the Point Based Evaluation to Boost Your Chance of Getting Australia Skilled Worker Visa

Thanks to its robust economy, thousands of foreign nationals
want to work in Australia and seek their way through the skilled worker visa
for Australia. The skilled worker visa category is divided into two sub
categories namely, Australia Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189), and
Australia Skilled Nominated visa (Subclass 190). Since a point based criteria
is set for this visa category, applicants applying for it can boost their
chances of visa approval by securing more points. But an applicant first needs
to score at least 60 points on the point calculator to become eligible for
applying for the visa.
Following credentials are included by the Australian Immigration department to evaluate an applicant’s eligibility in this point
based system.
Age
Under Australian Immigration policy, foreign nationals aged
between 25 and 32 are preferred.
- Applicants aged between 25 – 32 years get 30 points.
- Applicants aged between 18 – 24 years get 25 points.
- Applicants aged between 33 – 39 years also get 25 points.
- Applicants aged between 40 – 44 years get only 15 points.
Education
An applicant’s education qualification is inevitably the
best measure of his eligibility and skills. Here is how much points having
different education qualifications can get you
- Applicants with doctorate (Ph. D.) degrees get 20 points
- Bachelor degree holders (including Bachelor degree with honors and Masters) get 15 points.
- Applicants with one of the following qualifications get 10 points.

A diploma from a recognized institute in
Australia
o
An offshore apprenticeship from a recognized
institute
o
AQFIII/IV completed in Australia
Work Experience
Your work experience in Australiain your nominated field is
also helpful in securing some extra points.
- Overseas workers with eight or more years of Australian experience get 20 points
- Immigrants with 5 years of Australian experience get 15 points
- With 3 years of Australian experience you get 10 points
- Overseas workers who have 1 year of experience get 5 points
Note: If you have
8 or more years of international work experience in your nominated field then
you score 15 points on the point calculator.
English Proficiency
Your expertise of using English language also plays a
crucial role in scoring more on point calculator.
- Applicants with 8 or more IELTS score get 20 points
- Applicants who score between 7 and 8 in IELTS get 10 points
